Willis Raburu, 10 Over 10 Host Quit citizen TV after 13 years
Willis Raburu, the host of Citizen TV News, made his departure from the network after 13 years on Monday, June 26.
In a four-minute video, the well-known anchor announced the news and thanked the station for the chance to work there.
When asked if this week would be his last, Raburu reflected on his tenure at the Royal Media-owned station, which he joined as an intern and rose to become one of its top journalists.
Since June, I’ve had the chance to think back on a number of things relating to my life during the preceding few weeks. Gratitude has emerged for me as a common theme. I appreciate you being a part of my 13-year journey. I have been in the media for a variety of reasons. I appreciate the chance to do what I love, and I’m glad for that,” he said.
“This week, I said goodbye to Royal Media Services, where I spent 13 incredible years as my home. I’m grateful for the chance to interact with all of you, break through barriers, and bring about change. To fresh adventures, he continued.
He said that Royal Media had provided him the chance to develop, noting that he had conducted interviews with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and current President William Ruto for various stories.
It has helped me have a deeper understanding of people and things. From the moment I began working at Royal Media as an intern in 2010 until the various stories I have produced, including an interview with the current President William Ruto, I have travelled, made the news, and produced a variety of items for radio,” continued Raburu.
He also emphasised aspects of his work that stood out, such as 10 over 10, which he claimed had developed throughout his term.
To demonstrate how he was able to use his many talents, Raburu disclosed that he had written a book titled “Undefined” about his entire time at Royal Media.
I’ve also hosted one of the most popular programmes for young people that features music, entertainment, and content. This learning curve has been incredible.
The seasoned journalist said, “I’m grateful to all of my colleagues who have held my hand and I’ve put all of these 13 years into a book I’ve called the book undefined because I’ve been able to do several things. Being defined means you’re put in a box, but being undefined means you get rid of the box entirely and you’re able to appreciate every vein of talent you have.
