Why Headteachers are Reluctant to Apply for TSC CSO Positions
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has posted posts for Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), but primary school headteachers are hesitant to apply.
TSC released job postings for CSO I (84 posts), CSO II (regular) (286 positions), and CSO II (CSO SNE) (295 positions) in the previous month.95 posts for Principal Teacher Management Officers (PTMO) were also posted.
Due to a lack of interest from some primary school principals, the commission re-advertised the aforementioned positions on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
Primary school teachers are purposefully not applying for the CSO posts because they believe the position does not provide significant financial incentives. Many headteachers in job group C5 think the CSO role is undesirable since it doesn’t offer substantial compensation.

P1 headteachers express their concerns because they are currently in charge of budgets that include significant allocations like the free primary education (FPE), junior secondary school (JSS) funding, and the free day secondary education funds (FDSE), as well as the domestic school meals programme.
