TSC TPD Training For Teachers, Course Details & Duration
Collins Oyuu from (KNUT), Akello Misori from (KUPPET), James Torome from (KUSNET), and Nancy Macharia, the Chief Executive Officer of TSC, were the individuals responsible for the official inauguration of the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) programme on September 22, 2021.
The enhancement of the participants’ professional growth is the fundamental purpose of the TPD training that is being provided.
The TPD training programme is intended for TSC instructors working in elementary and secondary schools, regardless of whether they are public or private.
Mount Kenya University, Kenyatta University, Riara, and the Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) are some of the universities and colleges that the Teaches Service Commission, (TSC) has chosen to partner with in order to provide training in TPD.
Only teachers who are registered with the TSC can participate in the programme.
TPD Training Cost
Teachers are required to pay Ksh 6,000 per year. Therefore, over the course of 30 years of TPD training, a teacher would have paid a total of Kenya Shillings 180,000.

Mode of Learning
Eligible teachers have the option to learn through face-to-face sessions and online courses. Face-to-face learning will be conducted during school holidays, while online courses can be taken during teachers’ free time at school.
MKU launched a TPD Mobile App that teachers can download and install on their phones. The App facilitates payments, registration process, access to learning resources, and communication.

TPD Course Outline (Modules and Chapters)
The TPD course is divided into modules and chapters (units).
Introduction Module: Consists of five chapters and takes one year to complete.
Level 1 Module: Comprises five chapters, with each chapter taking one year to complete. Hence, it takes five years to finish Level 1. The same pattern applies to Level 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Level 2 Module: Five years (five chapters)
Level 3 Module: Five years (five chapters)
Level 4 Module: Five years (five chapters)
Level 5 Module: Five years (five chapters)
Level 6 Module: Five years (five chapters)
A teacher can take a maximum of seven years per level. Consequently, completing the entire TPD course requires a minimum of 31 years.
Certificate and Transcript
Upon completion of each chapter, teachers will receive a transcript. A copy of the transcript will also be sent to TSC.
A certificate will be issued upon completion of the entire TPD course. The certificate must be renewed every five years.
