TSC Set to Review Teachers’ Salary Increment
The budget for increasing teachers’ salary will be examined by the Teachers Service Commission, TSC. The Teachers Service Commission is the entity in charge of all teachers’ welfare. Instructors are hired, promoted, let go, and even transferred by the commission. It also negotiates compensation increases for teachers.
The Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET) has proposed a budget of 56 billion shillings from the Teachers Service Commission.

Before the next budget is read, the union is pleading with MPs to approve the spending plan so that the TSC may implement its demands over teacher pay.
If the budget is approved, teachers would be qualified for salary raises in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement, CBA. The TSC suggested the budget to make room.
According to James Torome, the secretary general of KUSNET, it is now time for Kenyan MPs to approve the Sh56 billion that the TSC had suggested spending in order to improve the agreement’s execution.

He stressed the significance of MPs engaging an official debate in Parliament as opposed to informal discussions regarding the budget’s approval on the street or in other settings, which are exacerbating the issue.
Torome asked the government not to privatize educational institutions, together with KUSNET Vice Chairman Daniel Yator and National Trustee Jackson Odindo. He stressed that many Kenyans’ costs of education will rise as a result of privatization.

As Kenyan teachers suffer with low pay and unpleasant working circumstances, KUSNET has requested budget permission.
Ratifying the proposed budget would be a significant step toward the union’s objective of enhancing teachers’ welfare.
With the help of the planned expenditure plan, the TSC will be able to meet the growing demand for teacher pay, boosting both employee morale and productivity.
KUSNET requests that MPs pass the budget as quickly as possible so that it can take effect before the reading of the next budget in April.
