TSC to recruit 35000 teachers. By December next year, the Teachers Service Commission TSC will recruit a lot of 35,000 teachers.
The commission is devoted to employ teachers in primary, junior secondary and high school on both permanent and Internship basis.
The commission mentioned that majority of the teachers will be those in Junior Secondary School.
In this year’s budget, the Teachers Service Commission TSC was allocated Sh. 322 billion in which about 3.8 billion is intended to hire 20,000 teachers in junior secondary school that took effect this year January.

The commission was to set aside about Sh. 11.1 billion shillings for salary payment of 20,000 interns and 10,000 teachers hired on permanent basis.
From the data on the recently recruited teachers, a section of these teachers have received their salaries while others have not. The motive behind this is still unknown.
The teachers service commission CEO Nancy Macharia while appearing before the parliamentary committee indicated that all the recently recruited intern teachers will be absorbed on permanent basis at the end of this year.
“If we want to recruit more teachers we have to allow ourselves to have more interns then they will be turned to permanent and pensionable terms,” stated Macharia.
The commission mentioned that it will only hire around 8,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms of they will directly hire teachers.
“They will be Permanent and pensionable in 2025, they will serve as Interns for one year then they progress to be absorbed,” She said.
This is after the Narok MP enquired on the duration one takes before being absorbed permanently.
“If you recruited 20,000 teachers this year what is the plan to have them on permanent and pensionable and for how long will they be serving as interns? She asked.
The Lugari MP mentioned that running the sector of recruiting teachers in internship is not sustainable. He asked the commission to change tact on employing teachers.

The commission mentioned that all the serving interns were absorbed into permanent and pensionable terms this year.
