TSC Has Altered Teacher Retirement Age
Teachers in the North Eastern region who are employed by TSC have begun receiving retirement letters. Despite reaching the retirement age of 60, the teachers were employed on short-term contracts.
Teachers in the North Eastern region who had reached retirement age had previously been asked to apply for contract employment by TSC. The lack of teachers in the area was the cause of this. TSC was concerned since many teachers in the area had left the payroll.
A teacher shortage is anticipated in the counties of Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera regions as the contract teachers are about to leave the workforce. Due to a large outflow of outsiders from the area, there has previously been a teacher shortage in the area.
TSC Has Altered Teacher Retirement Age
After a recent examination of the delocalization programme, the commission was forced to send the majority of non-local teachers back to their home counties. The commission will now hire retired teachers in the area as a solution to the teacher shortage problem. The instructors will be hired for a brief period of three years, and the region’s teachers’ retirement age will also be raised by three years.

In order to gather and process data about the retired teachers’ deployment in the area, the commission has instructed them to visit the county directors of the aforementioned counties.
Additionally, TSC has confirmed that the region is actively seeking to hire intern teachers. In order to solve the issue of teacher shortage, the commission stated that intern teachers will be hired and posted in the North Eastern region as soon as the budget is read and funds are allocated.
