The Judiciary Has Announced Job Opportunities
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has initiated the recruitment process for appointing 20 High Court judges to enhance the administration of justice in the country. Chief Justice Martha Koome declared the positions vacant in a gazette notice dated September 27, 2023.
In terms of remuneration, based on Kenya’s Salaries and Remuneration Commission rules, the gross monthly remuneration package for these positions, excluding benefits, ranges from Ksh657,426 to Ksh1,000,974.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet certain qualifications, including having a law degree from a recognized university, being an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, or possessing an equivalent qualification in a Common-law jurisdiction.
Additionally, candidates should have at least ten years of experience as a superior court judge, professionally certified magistrate, notable academic, legal practitioner, or in a relevant legal sector. They must also uphold good moral character and adhere to the standards of Chapter Six of the Constitution, which relate to Leadership and Integrity.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate professional competence, effective communication skills, fairness, good temperament, sound judgment, extensive legal and life experience, as well as a strong commitment to public and community service.
The appointment process will adhere to Article 166 (1) (b), (2), and (5) of the 2010 Constitution, along with Section 30 of Part V and Schedule 1 of the Judicial Service Act, No. 1 of 2011.
