Teachers In These Areas Lose Hardship Allowances
Following Teachers Service Commission‘s, TSC’s most recent attempt to recoup overpayments from teachers’ pay slips, teachers are now a nervous group. The hardship and housing allowances contain the overpayments. The government just made a step that is sure to hurt the hearts of many teachers.
It is planned to stop paying hardship assistance in places that have gotten bigger over time. According to the administration, these areas should be removed from the list of hardship areas because they are no longer in a difficult situation.

Parliament will soon be presented with a report on the review of the hardship zones for further discussion. Teachers in the subject areas that will be covered have become anxious as a result. The topic has unnerved teachers who work in impoverished areas, and they are concerned about what the legislators might decide.
Depending on the severity and depth of the hardship, the report’s hard-hit locations have been further divided into categories.
The classification is described as follows:
- Extreme Hardship
- Average hardship
- Minimal Hardship
Such a designation opens the door to the potential of payment suspension in a few particular locations. This conversation has been initiated by a public petition to designate Rachuonyo North constituency as a hardship region. Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetangula, read the petition.

The following areas will no longer offer teachers hardship allowances.
The petitioner claims that Rachuonyo North sub county is in utter poverty. Numerous issues, such as poor student enrollment and severe understaffing, plague the local schools. Additionally, Karachuonyo North has been ignored even though tutors employed in nearby regions receive the hardship allowance.
The petition in question asks the national assembly to establish a set of standards for classifying regions as hardship areas or not in order to raise the morale of teachers and the education industry as a whole.
