At Bukacha Primary School in Bomet County, Kenya, classes and other activities were suspended on Tuesday night after a male teacher killed himself in a student’s room.
His coworker found the deceased’s body hanging from the roof.
John Karani, the chief of the Bomet East Sub-county Police, said that the teacher was seen entering the room and never leaving.

Mr. Karani stated that a team of officers from his office and the education department are conducting investigations to ascertain what took place because he did not leave a note at the scene.
According to Malel Langat, executive secretary of the KNUT branch in Bomet, the deceased was one of the teachers who successfully applied for and was granted a transfer from neighbouring Narok County to his home county.
“It’s unfortunate that we lost him. One of the fortunate professors to gain from the most recent moves was him. Since he moved here, he had been travelling from home to school. We are pleading with the government to offer counselling to educators who are dealing with a variety of difficulties, said Langat.
The cadaver has already been sent to the Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary.
