SRC to Issue New salary structure for the Following Public officers
According to comments made by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) during an appearance before a Senate committee, a new compensation structure for all public officers is anticipated to be released in June 2023.
In an appearance before the Senate Education Committee, SRC chairperson Lyn Mengich reportedly stated that her team is now reviewing the salary of public officers as part of the third remuneration review cycle of this year.
Mrs. Mengich also said that the evaluation would take into account the pay of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) instructors employed by county governments nationwide.
Mengich spoke to the Senate at this meeting and
“SRC will continue to engage with stakeholders and provide appropriate responses in accordance with SRC’s mandate of setting, reviewing, and advising on the remuneration and benefits in the public service.”
This commission established a four-year review cycle of compensation and benefits in the public officials across all sectors based on the terms of Section (11) of the SRC Act 2011.
According to SRC, the first cycle of remuneration encompassed the years 2013–2014 through 2016–2017.
The second cycle also included the years 2017–2018 and 2021–2022.
The SRC acknowledged that most employment have not changed much, but it issued the promise that it will evaluate new jobs and jobs that institutions had determined had changed significantly.
According to SRC, the results of job evaluations will be used to create job grading systems for all public employees.
Kenyans are now waiting for the SRC to be fully implemented as promised by Mengich during the 9th Summit, which took place from February 10–12, 2023, in Naivasha.
It was decided at this meeting that county governments would create an ECDE framework and consult the SRC on equitable pay and benefits for all citizens.
