Schools Break Earlier For Mid-term Break, Here is the Reason
Changes were notified in a circular dated April 24 by Dr. Belio Kipsang, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education.
The midterm vacation, which was supposed to be from June 29 to July 2 of 2023, will now take place from June 27 to July 1 of 2023.
PS Kipsang was pleading with Mr. Kahi Indimuli of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) to modify the dates so secondary school heads could attend a KESSHA conference.
In order to accommodate the 46th KESSHA conference, the KESSHA chair requested in a letter dated March 26 that the second term’s midterm dates be extended.

With a midterm break scheduled for June, the Second Term was planned to last for 14 weeks, ending on August 11. Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, claimed that the ministry had issued a circular instructing schools to be particularly watchful about what students drink and to make sure they are thoroughly inspected.

Kenya’s school term dates will revert to normal in the 2023 academic year. In November 2023, the KCPE and KCSE national exams will be given as usual. On January 23, 2023, the next academic year will start, and it will last until November 3, 2023.
There are 13 weeks in the first term of 2023, which runs from January 23 to April 21. Midterm holidays are the three days between September 23 and September 26. There will be a two-week vacation from April 22 to May 7.
Term 2 in 2023 is a 13-week period that runs from May 8 through August 11. After then, from August 12 to August 27, 2023, there will be a two-week break for the pupils.
