Schools Fail to Receive Capitation Threaten to Close Schools
Following a recent distribution of funding to educational institutions, confusion has developed. This has been verified after several school administrators said they did not receive adequate funding, while others assert they did not receive any at all.
Even though the Ministry of Education announced a week ago that monies were being released to schools through its cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu, many educational institutions are still struggling financially.
The objections made by teachers, many of whom are school heads, are legitimate, according to Indimuli Kahi, chairperson of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association. This is due to the fact that teachers anticipated receiving a higher sum after the budget allotted the ministry of education an enormous portion, so they were taken aback when what they really received was much, much less than what they had anticipated for each kid.
It is revealed that the basic education principal secretary Belio Kipsang signed a circulation a week ago stating that money had been released for distribution to educational institutions. He claims that the money was released for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2022–2023 as well as for the first semester of the 2023 academic year.
The education cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu was contacted about this matter earlier, and he promised to handle it with the national treasury, according to KESSHA chairperson Mr Indimuli Kahi. Additionally, Machogu stated that starting with the following fiscal year, the ministry of education will begin paying educational institutions utilising the 50.30.20 disbursement mechanism.

The education ministry claimed to have given schools an average of 24 billion. It has advised teachers to refrain from sending students home for failing to pay their fees on time.
According to Mr. Kahi, the regular academic growth of our institutions is being threatened by the delayed release as well as the disbursement of low money.
