School in Nakuru Ranked Top 10 Globally
For its remarkable work with children, Freedom School in Nakuru County has recently received significant praise; the previously unknown institution has now won a spot among the world’s top 10 schools.
The T4 Education Initiative awarded the school with the coveted ranking as the result of a tough competition with over 1000 entries from around the world in the Overcoming Adversity category.
The school’s distinctive approach to student dress was one of the outstanding elements that helped it achieve a high score.
flexibility School gives its students the flexibility to select their own clothing, in contrast to the majority of schools in Kenya that follow a uniform code established by the Ministry of Education. As a result, a lot of pupils choose to forgo wearing a uniform in favour of traditional “lesos” and African attire.

The school’s curriculum also stands out for being broad and including a thorough investigation of the pupils’ roots and background. The school fosters a strong connection to their ethnic identity by encouraging students to look into the history of their clans and wear traditional clothing.
Teachers at Freedom School also incorporate computer programming instruction, giving pupils technological know-how from an early age.
In order to develop their multilingual skills, the kindergarten students actively participate in learning numerous African languages and dialects.
T4 Education claims that the school’s concentration on innovation, entrepreneurship, public speaking, and critical thinking ensures that pupils are not just literate but also bilingual by the tender age of three.
The institution honoured Freedom School for showing how African children prosper when the curriculum is specifically designed to meet their requirements. The students gain a strong sense of pride, self-efficacy, and cultural identity thanks to these methods.

It adopts African clothing and designs with pride, highlighting the potent African value of “Ubuntu.” In the beginning, the school started a scholarship programme to aid underprivileged kids in the neighbourhood.
Children in Freedom School had more than 500 kids enrolled as of June 2023, ranging in age from five to fourteen.
The school made investments in the retraining and empowerment of its instructors in order to fulfil its educational objectives, and it supported an Afrocentric perspective in its teaching approaches.
