Rigathi Gachagua asks Universities to Scrap Some Programmes.
His Excellency Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president of the republic of Kenya, said yesterday that some university programmes ought to be completely eliminated.
Gachagua noted that as a result of a decline in the number of white-collar employment in the nation, several courses have grown out of date.
In addition, the deputy president noted that some of these courses might result in the loss of hundreds of jobs as colleges struggle to keep up with the quickly evolving demands of the labour market.

Due to the quick development of technology and the perception that the educational system is too sluggish to adapt, several courses have also become less valuable.
During the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) graduation ceremony, Gachagua made this statement.
Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Cabinet Secretary, was among the other significant state officials present at the ceremony, which saw a total of 4,299 pupils graduate.
JKUAT and the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology, and Innovation jointly hosted this 40th graduation ceremony.
Rigathi Gachagua, D.P. Gachagua urged on the need to further assess the impact of the curricula the institutions offer beyond the coveted courses during the 40th Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) graduation ceremony.
According to Gachagua, the fact that white-collar employment is declining year and the unemployment rate is over 60% is not a secret.
The DP contends that graduates are not yet ready to find employment for themselves and that university course offerings need to be reviewed.
