The change of our educational system is currently underway. We are switching over to the new competency-based curriculum from the 8.4.4 system.
Unlike the 8.4.4 system, the new curriculum places a greater emphasis on the learner. In this approach, students are generally left to their own devices but are guided and given more time to master new subjects. This curriculum’s methodology is what is required in the twenty-first century.
Grades 7, 8, and 9 will make up junior secondary, while grades 10, 11, and 12 will make up senior secondary. While senior secondary will be housed in the current high schools, junior secondary is located in primary schools.
The duty of developing reforms in the education sector that will help it run more efficiently was handed to the presidential working group on educational reforms. The party put out suggestions for reducing the number of junior secondary topics provided.

iii) Home Science
iv) Computer Science
v) Other Languages (Indigenous Language, French, Arabic, German, Sign Language)
NOTE
All students must get physical education (P.E.) as a required learning area. This is done to aid in the growth of the psychomotor domain.
For the students, fewer compulsory subjects would be excellent. They occasionally become confused by the various study areas, therefore this is beneficial for them.
They will also be better able to recognise their strengths and shortcomings and gain a thorough understanding of all learning areas. This will assist them in choosing career pathways in several broader study areas while they are in senior secondary schools.
