Most Expensive and Popular Degree Courses in Kenya
Candidates for the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) can now begin applying for the courses they want to take at universities and TVET institutions through the portal that was recently opened by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
Ezekiel Machogu, the secretary of the Education Cabinet, claimed that KUCCPS had checked all of the costs listed for every program on the website.
The placement body for higher education schools provided a list of the hundreds of courses that were offered, the universities, the annual fees, and the cut-off points.

For an academic year, the price of the programs ranges from Sh67,000 to Sh612,000. According to official statistics, the most expensive majors at Kenyan public colleges are medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.
Some colleges charge Sh 612,000 for just the first year of these courses. The most expensive universities for a bachelor’s in dental surgery and a bachelor’s in medicine and surgery (MBCHB) are Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, and Moi University.
A student must pay Sh612,000 in the first year alone to pursue a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Moi University. The University of Nairobi charges Sh521,050 to teach the identical course.

The duration of these programs is approximately five years. The cost of studying MBCHB ranges from Sh306,000 to Sh592,500 depending on the institution.
The cost for students seeking a Bachelor of Commerce at one of the more than 40 public or private universities will range from Sh130,000 to Sh227,500.
The cost of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, just for the first year, varies from Sh396,000 at MultiMedia University to Sh300,000 at Technical University of Kenya.
At least 14 universities offer the Bachelor of Law, with Daystar University having the highest tuition at Sh335,000 and Mount Kenya University having the lowest at Sh170,000.
The University of Nairobi (UoN) charges Sh442,850 for a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine, whereas the same university charges Sh374,850 for a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
The cost of the 18 universities that offer the bachelor of arts program ranges from Sh122 400 to Sh160,000, making it one of the more affordable options available.

Aside from other STEM courses, additional expensive courses include those in geology, architecture, and actuarial science.
The most popular courses, in terms of popularity, are business administration and education, which admit approximately half the total number of applicants.
