Ministry Of Education (MoE) Makes Changes to Term 2 Dates
Through a circular dated 24th April 2023, the Principal Secretary for Basic Education Belio Kipsang has announced changes to second term mid-term dates.
According to the circular, the second term Mid-term dates were scheduled on 29th of June to 2nd of July. But this PS has made changes now to 27th June to 1st July 2023.

This changes comes after the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) chairman Kahi Indimuli pleaded with the PS to alter dates to give them room to attend to the KESSHA conference.
From the letter seen by our team, the KESSHA chairman requested for the extension of the midterm dates for second term so as to allow them attend to the 46th KESSHA conference.

REF: REQUEST TO EXTEND MID TERM DATES
Reference is made to a letter Ref. KESSHA/NATCONFF/3/VOL.1/23 dated 26th March 2023 from the National Chairman, Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association on the above subject.
The letter notes that the current scheduled dates for midterm of second term coincides with the dates of KESSHA 46th National Conference.

The Ministry recognizes that the National KESSHA Conference is an important event that allows school managers to make a review and share experiences in running of schools.
Consequently, the midterm dates for second term year 2023 has been rescheduled to start from 27th June to 1st July 2023.
All school managers are required to take note and adhere to the changes dates.

The above term dates apply to both primary and secondary schools in Kenya.
This term is the longest considering the previous term was was 13 weeks. Learners and teachers will have to tighten their belts to ensure the term is a success.
