M-Pesa Africa’s vision to become the largest FinTech and digital ecosystem on the continent with its ONE M-Pesa initiative will be realized by 2025. More than 50 million customers in six markets are now being served by M-Pesa.
Interns are an essential part of the team and play a critical role in the organization’s mission to transform the financial services industry in Africa.
Internship Description and Schedule
The host organization offers internships on a quarterly basis (July–September, October–December, and January–March 2024) and covers all expenses. Since there is only one application period per fiscal year, interested parties can apply during whatever quarter is most convenient for them.
Interns will get the opportunity to learn from veterans in their fields for three months. As an intern, you will be thrust into a dynamic setting that fosters learning, teamwork, and professional development in service to your long-term career goals.
Methods of Selection
To be eligible for the M-Pesa Africa internship program, candidates must satisfy the following conditions:
- Students in their final year of college, recent graduates, or those enrolled in their final year at a qualifying institution are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to students who need an internship to fulfill degree requirements.
- The intern’s availability is required to be consistent during the internship hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
Definitions of an Ideal Worker
M-Pesa Africa is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- An insatiable appetite for knowledge and an eagerness to gain experience in the corporate world.
- What we mean by “critical thinking and communication skills” includes the ability to question established conventions, follow guidelines, and communicate oneself cogently in both written and vocal forms.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
