KUCCPS Reopens Application for 13,000 Teaching Opportunities; How to Apply
On Saturday, July 15, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) launched its online application portal for placement into diploma teacher training courses.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced that applicants will be vying for 13,439 slots in the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) programmes to students at Kangaru School in Embu, where he presided over an education and career guidance day.
A mean grade of C (plain) on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam is the bare minimum needed for qualification.
The Education CS states that there won’t be any new curriculum prerequisites.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), which has opened its online application portal, will manage the placement of trainees to the 32 public teacher training institutes for the second year, he said.
The gateway would remain open until July 28, 2023, according to KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome, who spoke at the same gathering.
Wahome stated that the option was open to all qualifying KCSE certificate holders, including non-Kenyans who took the exam in 2022 or earlier up until the year 2000.
11,358 slots are available in the DPTE programme, whilst 2,081 slots are open for admission in the DECTE programme.
The KUCCPS CEO gave a speech to the students at Kangaru School and counselled them to match their Form One and Form Two subject choices with their future job goals.
She also recommended pupils in Forms Three and Four to take into account their areas of strength, passion, job market, and income range when choosing courses at universities and colleges.
Additionally, Wahome urged the kids to choose their professional paths based on their areas of strength and academic excellence.
Cyrus Gituai, the chairman of the KUCCPS Board, shared her sentiments when he said that all students should have the opportunity to pursue higher education, regardless of their academic performance.
