KNEC Releases 2023 Grade 3 National Assessments
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued the national Competency Based Assessments (CBA) for students in grade 3 for 2023. The testing organization has stated that both public and private schools have access to the online resources. Additionally, the exam administration may begin at any point in the future.
The testing organization has established a deadline for the administration and scoring of the exams. The results should have been posted online through the CBA platform no later than August 11, 2023.
The Kenya National Examination Council instructed all school heads to visit the assessment portal and log in to the CBA portal at https://cba.knec.ac.ke in a prior circular that was sent on April 17, 2023.
The officials also advised schools to seek help if they were having problems with the password issue. The area sub county director of education should be contacted for assistance, since they can assist with password resets.
Students in grade 3 will currently take a unique kind of national exam. Kenya Early Years Assessment (KEYA) will be the name of the test. But students who have special needs or who are disabled will take the Kenya Foundation Level Education Assessment (KFLEA).
This type of evaluation has been planned to include Integrated Learning Areas (ILA). With this type of evaluation, all the subjects that these students study will now be merged and given verbally and through practicals.
These students will now take the written exams in the month of October 2023, in accordance with the schedule that has been made public. They will sit for and complete two exams during this time: English Activities and Mathematics. The Kenya National Examinations Council has requested that all records and evidence created by the ongoing assessments be kept by the headteachers.
Additionally, all of the materials needed for the assessments should be obtained from the neighborhood schools. Other supplies will need to be improvised for.
According to KNEC, examinations for grades 4,5, and 7 will be made available starting in July 2023.
