KNEC Message to TTC Principals On UDPTE Assessment
In advance of the summative administration of the 2023 Upgrade Programme for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE) Assessment, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has sent a notice to the principals of Teacher Training Colleges (TTC).
The assessment will be carried out electronically and is slated to take place between Monday, July 24, 2023, and Friday, July 28, 2023, according the notice dated July 5, 2023.
On Friday, July 21, 2023, the assessment’s practise session will take place.
The Centre Manager, ICT Tutor, and Supervisor will jointly tour the college’s ICT facilities and inform the candidates of the needs of e-assessment administration during the practise. These prerequisites consist of:
- A sufficient quantity of Digital Learning Programme (DLP) devices that are operational and fully charged.
- reliable internet connectivity is available.
- Candidates are placed 1.22 metres apart, in accordance with KNEC rules on seating arrangements.
- UPS, or uninterruptible power supply.
To make sure that the required ICT infrastructure is in place before the rehearsal, the ICT tutor will work with your office.

The tutor won’t leave the room during the entire assessment period to help out with technological issues, but he or she shouldn’t speak to the candidates without the supervisor’s permission.
KNEC will send a Supervisor to your centre to supervise the administration of the assessment there on April 24, 2023 for secondary school teachers attending a capacity building training session at Thogoto Teachers Training College.
“Invigilators are required to attend the practise sessions. The College Principals will find them and recruit them, declared KNEC.
The following principles must be adhered to while locating and hiring invigilators:
- For every 20 candidates, there should be one invigilator assigned.
- It is improper for invigilators to oversee a course they teach.
- For their appointment letters to be downloaded, invigilators must first register in the Cp2 system.
- Invigilators must be upright people of great integrity.
- The list of Invigilators and their registered mobile numbers must be emailed by the college heads to si@knec.ac.ke after recruitment in order to be deployed.
By July 14, 2023, the list shall be received by KNEC.
To ensure adherence to KNEC laws and regulations and to facilitate a successful administration of the assessment, KNEC emphasises the significance of Principals being present during the administration of the e-assessment.
