KCSE Examiners Threaten to Disrupt Exams if Not Paid
Candidates in form four classes around the nation are putting in additional effort to get ready for the national exams, which will begin in November of this year.
It has just come to light that the teachers, through the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), have threatened to disrupt this year’s national exams if the government, acting through the ministry of education, does not pay them their dues for the Kcse they took part in a year ago.
The instructors have explicitly declared that they will not mark the exams unless the government pays the 2022 arrears, according to the reputable source we have from today’s Daily Nation newspaper dated July 31, 2023.
Despite Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, guaranteeing that the instructors will soon be paid, the government has not given a cent to the teachers who oversaw and marked the Kcse examinations last year. After seven months, the teachers still haven’t gotten their back pay.
What do you think about this? If the teachers don’t get paid their arrears from 2022, do you think it’s a smart idea for them to disrupt the upcoming national exams? Let us know what you think in the space below.
