JSS Board of Management to be Trained by KEMI Starting Next Month
Next month, the Boards of Management (BOM) committee members will participate in training on the operations of Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) that will be provided by the Ministry of Education through the Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI).
The training is set to take place from July 31, 2023, to August 4, 2023, and the locations will be communicated in each of the 47 counties, as stated in a memo that was sent to all acting JSS principals. According to the document, four participants from the JSS Sub-Committee will attend the training.
The head of the Junior Secondary School Subcommittee, one of the teachers of the Junior Secondary School, a representative of the parents’ association, and the acting principal of the Junior Secondary School.
In addition, each public primary school that offers the Junior Secondary School Certificate will contribute a total of Ksh12,000, of which Ksh8,500 will be used to cover the costs of tuition, stationery, and certification.

The remaining Ksh3, 500 will be used to provide the participants with the necessary training logistics, such as tea and snacks at ten o’clock, lunch and water, and snacks in between meals.
The Sub County Kenya Primary Schools Head Teachers Association (KEPSHA) Account should be used for all payments, and all schools should comply with this instruction.
After that, the funds have to be transferred via a single cheque to either the National Bank Account of KEMI or the Equity Bank account of KEMI.
According to the circular dated July 5, 2023, “Every school will facilitate travelling of the BOM members to the training venues.”
On Friday the 21st of July 2023, the deadline for transferring the funds to their relevant sub-county KEPSHA accounts will come into effect.
