How to Apply For Replacement of Lost KNEC Certificate
Replacement of Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC)certificates is now done for all candidates who sat for the examination way back in 1981.
However, you should note that KNEC does not provide duplicate certificates but a confirmation of results in case of employment or certification letter for those in need of a copy.
In the past, KNEC has offered a manual process of replacing certificates. The examination body has now moved this service online where one can apply for the replacement of a lost from the comfort of hi/her house without necessarily having to visit the KNEC offices.
In 2020, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) introduce an online platform known as Query Management Information System (QMIS) where you can follow simple guidelines to obtain apply for your lost certificate online.
You can follow the steps below to replace your lost certificate either KCPE or KCSE online.
Steps of replacing certificates Online
- Using your browser, visit this link https://QMIS.knec.ac.ke/ and then click register to create an account.
- After you have created the account , you can now scan the following documents ready for upload in case you are applying for a confirmation of results;
- A copy of lost certificate/result slip/nominal roll for the year you sat for KCPE/KCSE
- Letter from the school where you sat for the exam written by the headteacher or principal addressed to KNEC CEO.
Once you have the above documents scanned, you can now click on ‘confirmation ‘ tab to proceed with the application.
Fill all the fields above and state the reason for the confirmation. Click on the drop down arrow to upload the above documents and then click attach. After all is done, you can now click on the submit button.
If you are applying for a certification letter, then you just need to click on lost certificate, then the page below will be displayed.
Before you feel the above form, ensure that you scan the following documents ready for upload;
- Copy of lost certificate/ result slip
- Police Abstract
- Confirmation from Registrar
- National ID
- Passport Photo
- Letter from school where you sat for the exam
After filling the form and attached the above documents, you can now proceed and click submit button.
How to Apply For Replacement of Lost KNEC Certificate
Application Fee
The process of applying for confirmation of results and certification letter is not for free. It comes with a cost.
Applying for the confirmation of results will attract an application fee of Ksh. 2320 payable via M-pesa using the pay bill 250544.
Under the account number section, you will receive the account number after submission of the application via SMS after your documents have been verified.
For those applying for the certification letter, they will pay an application fee of Ksh. Via M-pesa using the pay bill provided above.
How to check for the Application Status/Progress
You can be able to keep track of your application progress using this system.
After Logging in, you can choose from the menu under the Status tab, click their and you will see the progress of your application whether it has been processed or not.
