Housing Levy Deductions per Job Group For Teachers in July 2023
The new housing levy reduces teacher pay, and we will keep you updated on the most recent information regarding the effects of the house levy that will take effect as of July 2023.
Principals currently earn the highest salaries of all Kenyan instructors, ranging from Sh131,380 to Sh157,656 per month.
A Primary Teacher II earns the lowest salary among school teachers. Teachers of Grade B5 (T-Scale 5) make between Ksh 21,756 and Ksh 27,195 per month.
Employees are required to contribute 1.5% of their gross monthly income to the new housing levy, while employers are not required to do so.
A corporation will be charged a monthly penalty equal to 2% of the amount overdue if it misses a housing levy payment deadline.

A levy has been proposed through the teachers’ employer TSC to pay for the government’s lofty goal of constructing 250,000 affordable dwelling units annually.
