HELB Sends Chilling Message to Employers Over Employee Deductions
All companies have received a notice from the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) on the deadline for employee HELB deductions.
You only have three days left to cancel your employee’s HELB deductions, HELB announced on their twitter page. Contribute by the 15th and aid in preserving our dreams.
In order to support people in empowering dreams, HELB requested employers to “ensure timely and consistent deductions of HELB loan repayments.”
“For the last 27 years, HELB has empowered dreams of more than 1.23 million students and disbursed over Kshs. 130.1 billion,” said a statement on the HELB website.
Additionally, HELB cautioned employers of the repercussions of missing the deadline for sending in loan deductions.

“By the 15th of the month following the deduction, HELB must receive payment for all loan deductions. The employer is subject to a 5% penalty of the total amount owed for late or missed payments, according to the post.
Fake News
A phoney website that has been disseminating false information about the Higher Education Loans Board has also been reported by HELB. The board asked all Kenyans to use their official lines of communication to obtain accurate information.
The official social media accounts and other platforms that Kenyans can use to access reliable information were supplied by HELB.
“Watch out for fake news. Get reliable information from our official channels: contactcentre@helb.co.ke, 0711 052 000, Twitter (@HELBpage), Facebook (@HELBPage). “#Kaachonjo,” read the post.
Loan repayment for HELB
In addition, HELB supplied a link to their YouTube channel, where they post accounts of their “partnerships for impact” endeavours.
Additionally, HELB provided details on how HELB loan recipients can make payments through M-Pesa.
According to HELB, they offer “repayment options that suit everyone.” They enjoin Kenyans to visit their website to find a repayment plan that works for them.
We offer a repayment option that will work for you, regardless of whether you prefer the ease of M-PESA or the convenience of a direct bank transfer. The repayment plan that most matches your demands can be found on our website right now, the post advised.
Partnerships In an effort to “help promising but needy students to continue pursuing their studies,” HELB has teamed with a number of organisations.
“For a very long time, the Higher Education Loans Board relied on National Government financing through Treasury to carry out its laudable mission of aiding worthy Kenyan students seeking higher education.
“The resources available are insufficient to meet the need as demand for HELB products rises steadily. Since entire reliance on Treasury money is not long-term viable, this has led to HELB seeking out alternate sources of funding, according to the HELB website.
