How much money will you get from the HELB Loan?
Undergraduate students at a university can get loans from as little as Sh40,000 to as much as Sh60,000.
For students placed by the Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), the loan amount is split to cover both tuition fees and living expenses. For self-sponsored students, the money is sent straight to the university once a year as tuition fees.
A standard amount of Ksh4,000 is taken out of the loan and sent to the university per semester for tuition [total of Ksh8,000], and the rest is sent to the applicant’s bank account as living expenses. This only applies to students who are supported by the government.
