They might serve as inspirations and role models for achieving greater heights. Good teachers won’t allow their gifted students get away with not realising their full potential because they hold them accountable for their triumphs and mistakes.
Although teaching is a difficult profession, many people are passionate about it. As a result, a large number of young people are enrolling in institutions of higher learning to enthusiastically pursue education.
It is, however, not a wake-up-go-to-work job; rather, it is a job with specific obligations. To encourage more people to pursue their ambitions, the Kenyan government, through the Ministry of Education, decreased these standards.
Students who received a D+ can therefore enrol in teachers’ training colleges (TTCs). A C plain or C- on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is required for applicants to study for an education diploma. From the preceding C +, this is lower. Those pursuing a certificate in education (often referred to as P1) will now require a D+ rather than a C (plain).
The prerequisites are as follows:
DPTE’s (Diploma in Primary Teachers Education) entry requirements
1. The KCSE Mean Grade of C (Plain) or its equivalent with a C (Plain) in the following cluster topics is the admission grade for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (Grades 1-6). (Mathematics; Humanities (Any); Sciences (Any); English and Kiswahili 1. A C (Plain) Mean Grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (KCSE) or its equivalent, as determined by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), is required for admission to the Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE).
2. Candidates with impairments must have a C- (Minus) grade in the KCSE or an equivalent to be admitted.
3. The timeframe
It will take three years to complete the Early Childhood Teacher Education Diploma (DECTE).

4. The student must complete a three-month micro-teaching project as a requirement for the two-term teaching practicum.
5. The candidate must complete the necessary coursework hours and pass the specified tests as instructed by the Kenya National Examination Council (KCSE) in order to receive the Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education.
Candidates must provide proof of their devotion to morally upright principles and good behaviour, such as;
1. Police clearance.
2. For applicants with disabilities, the entry-level grade in the aforementioned subject cluster is C- (Minus) and C- (Minus).
3. According to the authorised Curriculum designs, the course must last three (3) years.
4. The Trainees must complete the suggested coursework hours, the appropriate practical hours, and pass the examinations as instructed by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
5. As a requirement for engaging in teaching practise, the Teacher Trainee must complete a three-month micro-teaching course.
