Ranking of school Heads Introduced; CS Machogu
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has announced that the act of planting and caring for trees will now be incorporated into the performance contracts of school principals.
On Tuesday, Machogu made his remarks at Kametho Primary and Junior Secondary School in Rarieda, which is located in Siaya County. He stated that this will reduce the negative consequences that climate change will have.
“We have told the principals of all the primary and secondary schools in the country that one of the areas that are going to appear in your performance contracting is tree nurseries, planting, and growing,” Machogu said to the educational institutions. “The educational institutions” refers to all of the primary and secondary schools in the country.

He stated that there would be a ranking of the schools that perform the best in tree planting and that the ranking will be made public.
“We are looking for competition in that area. Machogu added that the ranking process would be the same as it has been in the past, and it would be based on how well students performed in their academic work.

He went on to say that the nation will be able to cultivate and plant an adequate number of trees using the resources that are already available, such as land and human capital.
Machogu stated that they wished for their children to learn how to plant trees as well as the significance of doing so.
