False and inaccurate reports claim that Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, ordered Kenyans between the ages of 29 and 35 to retake the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
On Monday, May 8, false reports claimed that the Education CS had ordered Kenyans to retake the KCSE exams because there were so many instances of examination malpractice.
The reports, according to Education News Arena.co.ke, did not originate from the Ministry of Education.
Over 9,000 people viewed one of the Twitter accounts that posted the false information initially. From the name to the logo, it appropriated Nation Africa’s identity.
One of the deceptive posts stated, “Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has today said that Kenyans between 29 and 35 years old are to retake KCSE exams due to widespread cheating in the years they sat for the national examinations.”
On Tuesday, May 9, Nation Africa highlighted the post, suggesting that it was false and did not come from the media outlet. The Twitter account was suspended as a result of several complaints.
A fake account for Citizen TV claimed that CS Machogu had ordered 29 to 35-year-olds to retake their KCSE exams in a social media post. More than 100 Twitter users viewed the post.
Machogu Addressing 2022 KCSE Exams Fraud
Machogu refuted allegations of cheating in the 2022 KCSE exams when testifying before the National Assembly Education and Research Committee.
He defended schools that had achieved great success, making sure that the national exams were administered with integrity.

Fake News Regarding University Admissions Exams
The Ministry of Education was the focus of false reports a week after it refuted claims that pupils who took the KCSE examinations in 2022 will be required to take an entrance exam before enrolling in a university.
