Cardinal Otunga Girls Expels 18 Students Over Lesbianism, Phone Possession
Cardinal Otunga Girls High School in Bungoma County recently took decisive action by expelling 18 students who were allegedly found in possession of mobile phones and cucumbers. The school’s disciplinary committee asserted that these students were caught red-handed, engaging in what the school considers a major offense.
According to media reports, a disciplinary hearing was convened for these students on September 28.
The school communicated the suspension to the students’ parents through a letter signed by the Principal, which stated, “Your daughter named above has been suspended from school for gross misconduct. You are required to appear before the school disciplinary committee on September 28 to show cause why your daughter should not be excluded from the institution.”
During their defense, one of the girls claimed that she was sleeping in her bed, and her friend was sleeping on top of the sheets when they were discovered by the deputy headmistress, who demanded an explanation for their “sleepover.”
It’s worth noting that among the suspended students, nearly 14 are part of the four candidates scheduled to sit for national exams in the upcoming weeks. This indefinite suspension has left parents in a precarious situation, uncertain about whether their daughters will be able to participate in the national exams.
Parents expressed their concerns, with one stating, “We are perplexed and disturbed by the school’s decision. Our students are subjected to deep psychological torture; they have been subjected to shame and uncertainty.”
However, a letter from the School Principal indicated that the decision to expel the girls from the city school stated that they would be allowed to sit their final exams but would have to wait until the school advises on the terms for their return in October.
