Best Courses for KCSE Candidates with Less than C+ Mean Grade
According to the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) exam results, a sizeable portion of students—708,071 in total—failed to achieve the minimal grade of C+ required for admission to Kenyan universities.
173,345 candidates were successful in earning grades of C+ or higher, qualifying them for admission to any university in the nation.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) was established by the government as a result to provide financial support for these 173,345 students, ensuring their admission to higher education.
All 881,416 of the students who took part in the KCSE exams in 2022 have been admitted to various schools of higher learning as a result of the government’s dedication to supporting a thorough transition.
Most of these students are anticipated to enrol in TVET programmes, or technical and vocational education and training.

For pupils who did not achieve the C+ criteria for university admission, there are numerous professional choices available:
1. Teachers Training Colleges:
With a minimum grade of C or C-, students who want to pursue a diploma in education can enrol in Teachers Training Colleges (TTC).
TTCs focus on preparing future educators and provide a range of teaching specialisations.
2. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centres:
For students who didn’t receive the necessary C+ grade, TVET centres offer a variety of courses.
These programmes cover a wide range of subjects, including community development, air cargo management, animation and digital media, tour guiding, and agricultural engineering.
3. Colleges and Polytechnics:
Recent KCSE graduates might investigate the courses provided by colleges and polytechnics to improve their credentials for admission to universities.
These schools also provide practical training in trades like plumbing, electrical work, and tailoring. Their programmes cover everything from theology and biblical studies to aviation to medical, pharmacy, and art and design.
4. Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC):
Many KMTC institutions allow applicants who have earned at least a C Plain on their KCSE.
A wide range of courses, including diplomas in Registered Nursing (KRN), Medical Laboratory Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Orthopaedic Technology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Medical Imaging Sciences, are offered by these institutes specifically for recent KCSE graduates.
