M-Pesa is a fintech innovator and the industry leader for mobile money worldwide. M-Pesa, which began as a practical way for the unbanked and underbanked to make digital payments in 2007, has since expanded to provide Financial Services, Enterprise, Merchant, and Retail Solutions to more than 50 million active users. We take great pride in promoting financial inclusion and supporting the digital economy in our markets.
By 2025, M-Pesa Africa hopes to have ONE M-Pesa, the continent’s largest FinTech and digital ecosystem. It presently supports 6 markets and is growing.
For the Financial Year 2023–2024, we are happy to announce an internship opportunity in the business areas of Commercial, Risk & Compliance, Human Resources, Legal, Cybersecurity, and Technology.

Quarterly, from July to September, October to December, and January to March 2024, our internship program will be in operation. You can plan which quarter of the year you will be accessible since there will only be one application call every fiscal year.
As an intern, you will undergo “on the job training” and have the opportunity to collaborate with knowledgeable leaders during the course of the program. You can take on real-world business difficulties by participating in an internship with us. You will collaborate with teams that are working on actual assignments, and you’ll grow your network and develop your abilities in a dynamic environment created to assist your long-term professional goals.
Selection Standards
We are seeking university students or recent graduates who match the requirements listed below in order to meet our current learning needs.
- You must be enrolled in your final or second-to-last year of your degree program or have completed your last year of study at an approved institution of higher learning. You must also be on a quarter-by-quarter academic break during the internship term. Priority will be given to students who need to complete an industrial attachment as part of their degree program for those who are still enrolled in classes;
- Must be accessible from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the whole duration of the internship program.
- The internship is for a set duration of three months with no possibility of extension. You can only choose one quarter of the year during which you will be available for the internship.
Requirements
Requirements for the ideal candidate:
- A strong desire to study and explore the business world as well as the desire to get professional experience;
- A successful internship will be enhanced by the candidate’s capacity to challenge the status quo, follow directions, and communicate both orally and in writing;
- Requires a basic understanding of the Microsoft Office suite.
