A smile to teachers ahead of July salary release
The country’s teachers service commission is a body with a constitutional obligation to oversee the activities of all national educators.
Teachers are anticipated to benefit greatly this month because of an ongoing legal matter. The teachers service commission (TSC) has confirmed that this month’s compensation rise for teachers will be 7%. Additionally, the 1.5% deduction for the housing fund will not apply to teacher wages.
Judge Mugure Thande of the high court appointed a petitioner on behalf of Busia senator Okiya Omtatah. Thande refused to overturn the orders suspending the 2023 Finance Act on July 12 of this year as a result.
The deductions were previously scheduled to begin on July 1st of this month. The Finance Act of 2023 mandated this.
The deductions won’t have an impact on government employees’ salaries this month, though.

According to Thande, the petitions submitted by a number of individuals, including Busia senator Okiya Omtatah and others, have demonstrated that they have a case. Additionally, it has been discovered that if the orders are lifted, the public stands to lose.

The judge further mandated that the file be sent to Chief Justice Martha Koome so that she might appoint a bench of justices to hear the case and render a decision.
Earlier, President William Ruto proposed wage increases ranging from 7% to 10% for all teachers and other government employees. He claimed that the administration took this action in order to shield all civil personnel from the challenging national economy.
Along with the benefits of increased net salary, the instructors’ ability to borrow money will also increase.
If TSC is not keen it will not have administrators in schools due to strict condition of grades, it should also know that it is missing the competent administrators and getting incompetent ones due to the so said grades when they have stagnated many, go back to what used to promote teachers
