2024 School Calendar Released By MoE
The Ministry of Education has released the 2024 academic calendar for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, as well as teachers’ training colleges.
For pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, the first term will begin on January 8, 2024, and end on April 5, 2024, spanning 13 weeks of instruction. Within this term, there will be a three-day half term break from February 29 to March 3, followed by a three-week holiday from April 8 to April 26.
The second term will run for 14 weeks, starting on April 29 and concluding on August 2, with a half term break from June 20 to June 23. A three-week holiday will follow, from August 5 to August 25.

The final term of the year will extend for 9 weeks, from August 26 to October 25, leading up to the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams scheduled for October 28-31. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will occur from November 4 to November 22, with the long December holiday lasting from October 28 to January 3, 2025.
As for teachers’ training colleges, their first term will begin on January 8 and conclude on April 5, with a holiday from April 8 to April 26. Term two will start on April 29 and run until August 2, followed by a holiday from August 5 to August 30. The final term will last for 11 weeks, from August 26 to November 8, with the long December holidays set for November 11 to January 3, 2025.
